Telecommunications group SP Telemedia says it's in a strong position to keep growing after posting a lift in first half profit.

Net profit for the half year ended January 31 was $10.06 million, up 288.5 per cent on the previous first half.

The company, which trades as SOUL, said earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) almost doubled to $27.8 million, from $14.2 million.
